Sonic 4 – Finally An Update

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode IRelease Date Delayed

Today, SEGA revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I will be pushed back until the second half of 2010. The game was previously going to be released this June. But being delayed is usually a good thing. SEGA is listening to their fans and are saying they are going to “polish it up” and want to make the game worthy of its title. Let’s just hope they are referring to gameplay and not the way Sonic looks. Hopefully they aren’t planning on going back to the old chubby, black-eyed Sonic. As much as I loved the classics, that would be taking to many steps back. And it would only show that SEGA is listening too the wrong people.

The Mystery Platform Release

I’m sure you have already figured it out by now, but if not, Episode I will also be released on Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

More Anticipation

SEGA has stated that something very special pertaining to the game will be coming to us in June. Could it be a demo? Possibly. But it could be much more! We’ll just have to wait a few more weeks to find out.

Personally, I was expecting bigger news today. But hopefully on GameSpot’s On the Spot tonight, we’ll hear more a little more.

oh boy..the running animation is gonna cause some stir along with the delay. I personally think it looks nice

  2. Joseppi Says:

I like the new running animation. To me, it has that classic feel. But yeah, the fact that people have been waiting for an announcement saying that they have to wait some more probably won’t fly to well in the Sonic community. But usually when a game is delayed, it’s worth it.

  3. Andrew Paulson Says:

The leak of Sonic 4 might mean we could be receiving a better product in the end. Perhaps Sega has decided to go back to work on Sonic 4 and use a lot of comments and discussion regarding Sonic 4 leak footage as fuel to make a better product.

  4. Alex Says:

Maybe the delay will mean a “classic” Sonic sprite as DLC, not that I mind the modern day sprite we have.

  5. Andrew Paulson Says:

Good idea, Alex. I think it would be neat if Sega adds downloadable content such as classic Sonic sprites from the original 4 Genesis titles.

  6. Joseppi Says:

Considering how far back they pushed the release, they could be doing a lot to it. It would be nice if they had an easter egg for beating the game be a playthrough with classic Sonic graphics like Mega Man 9 and 10. But I don’t mind the way it looks now at all.
