Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine is actually Puyo Puyo featuring characters from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon show. Mean Bean Machine was the first time a Puyo Puyo game was released in North America. The point of the game is to match up 4 like-colored “beans” to make them disappear which causes “refugee beans” to fall into the opponent’s screen. Refugee beans can’t be removed; so whoever gets stuck with the most will have a harder time clearing out other beans. Whoever lasts the longest without getting a bean to touch the top of their area wins.
